Skyline players will be evaluated throughout the season on several different occassions before tryouts even begin. Club Coaches will be at matches on Saturdays evaluating and each player's coach will be referred to for further evaluations of each player.
Tryouts will consist of small sided 4 versus 4 games. Games will then progress into an 8 versus 8 format and finally finish with an 11 versus 11 format. We will have roughly 1 evaluator per 8 players trying out.
Each player will be notified of her/his results of the tryout process within 72 hours of the completion of the tryouts. Once an offer has been extended to join Skyline's Competitive program, a response will be required within 24 - 48 hours to hold that players spot.
If you do not make a Competitive team this year, the selection committee may just feel you are not quite ready for the Competitive league. They may recommend either playing at Developmental or the Intermediate league. The Intermediate league is designed for those looking for the competitive side of soccer, but are just not ready for the Competitive league.
Tryouts are conducted at the end of May to early June (dates are sanctioned by Colorado Youth Soccer). Players
are encouraged to attend ALL of the tryout dates. The more the coaches can see the players on the field, the better evaluation the coaches can make. Players should arrive 15 minutes
early to their tryout time to allow time for registration.
Where are the tryouts?
Kennedy Soccer Complex; 9700 E Hampden Ave; Denver, CO
Who is the coach for my player's age group?
Coaches for age groups will be posted in the weeks leading up to the tryout.

Parents are welcome to stay during the tryout session, but must remain away from evaluators and players. No parents are allowed on the playing fields before, during or after the tryout
session.
What should I wear to the tryouts?
Cleats, inflated soccer ball, socks covering shin guards, and water.
What happens after tryouts?
Each player will be notified via telephone of her/his team placement the week following tryouts. Families should be ready to respond within 48 hours to an invitation to join a Select
team.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ryan Moore.
Evaluation will be based on technical, tactical, physical and psychological ability.
Players within the club will be evaluated in three ways:
1. Skyline Club Coaches will be on fields during Saturday matches watching U10 and above games. These evaluations will be used in to enhance our selection criteria during tryouts.
2. Skyline Vounteer Coaches will be consulted about players on each coaches respective team in regards to player participation, technical ability, tactical ability, ability to follow instructions and each players willingness to learn.
3. Each individual will have multiple evaluations conducted by licensed, experienced coaches while they play in both the small sided and larger games. All the evaluations are then calculated and an average score is given to each players ability based on each coaches evaluation. This will determine in placing an individual with the appropriate team.
Selection to a Skyline Competitive team is a great accomplishment. To play at one of the highest levels of competition in the state can be very gratifying for many players and parents. Players will refine their talents and techniques with qualified professional coaches. If you are new to the Competitive program, one thing to understand is that Competitive soccer does take more commitment than Recreational soccer.
Competitive soccer can really be a foundation for a childs future in soccer. Selection onto a premiere team can be have a great lasting effect on each player. Specifically, many of these teams will play together for years to come.
