Tryout Format

Skyline players will be evaluated throughout the season on several different occassions before tryouts even begin. Club Coaches will be at matches on Saturdays evaluating and each player's coach will be referred to for further evaluations of each player.

Tryouts will consist of small sided 4 versus 4 games. Games will then progress into an 8 versus 8 format and finally finish with an 11 versus 11 format. We will have roughly 1 evaluator per 8 players trying out.

Each player will be notified of her/his results of the tryout process within 72 hours of the completion of the tryouts. Once an offer has been extended to join Skyline's Competitive program, a response will be required within 24 - 48 hours to hold that players spot.

If you do not make a Competitive team this year, the selection committee may just feel you are not quite ready for the Competitive league. They may recommend either playing at Developmental or the Intermediate league. The Intermediate league is designed for those looking for the competitive side of soccer, but are just not ready for the Competitive league.

Placement Philosophy

Evaluation will be based on technical, tactical, physical and psychological ability.

Players within the club will be evaluated in three ways:

1. Skyline Club Coaches will be on fields during Saturday matches watching U10 and above games. These evaluations will be used in to enhance our selection criteria during tryouts.

2. Skyline Vounteer Coaches will be consulted about players on each coaches respective team in regards to player participation, technical ability, tactical ability, ability to follow instructions and each players willingness to learn.

3. Each individual will have multiple evaluations conducted by licensed, experienced coaches while they play in both the small sided and larger games.  All the evaluations are then calculated and an average score is given to each players ability based on each coaches evaluation.  This will determine in placing an individual with the appropriate team.
