Skyline’s philosophy is, “To Teach, To Inspire, and To Excel.” We strive to instill this philosophy in every player, at every level – regardless of their experience or age. To achieve this, we apply an age-appropriate training model as laid out by Skyline’s Player Development Plan. By the time players graduate from our Munchkin program they should:
SOCIAL: Grasp important life lessons such as the value of respecting their teammates and coaches, the significance of listening during instruction, and the importance of teamwork.
PHYSICAL: Develop motor skills, balance, flexibility, and agility.
PSYCHOLOGICAL: Be motivated and inspired by the sport of soccer through the encouraging and fun environment experienced within the program.
TECHNICAL: Understand the very basics of soccer in regards to how their body interacts with the ball – dribbling through space, change of speed and direction, and kicking.
TACTICAL: Know the most basic rules of the sport – to not use their hands, to understand the boundaries of the field, to become familiar with direction of play, and to become familiar with the concept of a game.
Here is what to expect leading up to and during the soccer season:
Want to play with a friend or the same coach from last season? Indicate a friend, several friends, or coach during the registration process and we will do our absolute best to make sure each request is met!

The success of our program relies on dedicated volunteer parent coaches.
We request at least one parent from each team be present each practice to help coach the team. Parent coaches greet the team and play soccer games to help players develop their soccer skills. Weekly coaching plans are provided to all parent volunteers to assist with this. We also setup and provide all the equipment you will need. Please note, if no one volunteers to coach and we are short staffed that day, we will ask parents to step in and coach that practice.
And don’t worry – you won’t be alone! Skyline has on-site staff available if you need any help with your team or have any questions about coaching. We also provide lots of coaching resources before the season starts.
We truly make coaching as easy as possible! As a coach, you’ll receive:
if your child is 2.5-3 years old they are in the Grasshopper group, if they are 4-5 years old they will be in our Munchkin group.
Also note that some five year old players are too old to participate in our Munchkin program (especially in the fall season when players age-up). Typically, once a player reaches kindergarten, then they become a U6 Recreational player and graduate from our Munchkin program.
On the first day of the program, there will be a team jersey available for your player at your field that is yours to keep forever! Each week, players should wear their Skyline jersey along with shinguards and athletic shoes (cleats are not required for this age group but are optional), and also bring a water bottle and weather appropriate clothing if necessary. We bring and set-up all additional equipment – even balls!
It is very simple to play with your friend, favorite coach or team! During registration, you will see a “Coach/Friend Request,” field. In that field, write down the names of any friends or coaches that your player wants to be with. The more specific you are, the better so we can accommodate your requests.
Roughly two weeks prior to the start of the season, you will receive an email outlining the upcoming program in great detail. One week prior to the start of the program you signed up for, you will receive an additional email with your player’s team assignment – team name, team color, and roster.
Our teams are coached by a mixture of volunteer parents and paid staff coaches. All coaches receive weekly coach plans and a coaching manual from Skyline.
If you have any interest in coaching, definitely do it (even if have limited soccer knowledge)! We make it as easy as possible – click here to find out more or register as a coach.
For each Grasshopper and Munchkin program, Skyline schedules two makeup days at the end of each season. Makeups are typically held on the same day, at the same, and at the same time as the program you registered for. If we cancel a session due to weather or an event outside of Skyline’s control then you will be notified via email of a) the cancellation and b) the makeup day schedule. Please note that while we do our absolute best to get in all six sessions, due to weather, only five are guaranteed.
Skyline only holds programs on makeup days if a previous session during the regularly scheduled season has been cancelled.
If you are unsure of whether or not a session has been cancelled, then call our weatherline (720.317.2882) or check out the field status box on the right-hand side of our homepage. Weather information will be updated daily no later than 3pm on weekdays and 8am on weekends.
You will also receive a notification email once a decision has been made in regards to any cancellations. Any cancellation email you receive will also provide information regarding the makeup schedule.
Each team is usually led by a coach or pair of coaches, but if you notice your player is struggling or wants your help, then feel free to step in! Parent involvement is not required, but definitely allowed and even encouraged if a player is being disruptive or needs assistance.
We appreciate gender specific teams but sometimes players will want to play with kids of other genders. At each location, we usually have a mix (⅓ boys, ⅓ girls, and ⅓ coed) and during scrimmages we do our best to play boys vs. boys, girls vs. girls, and coed vs. coed teams. If you have a specific preference, please make a note in the additional comments section of your registration so we can do our best to accommodate your player’s preferences.
Exactly one week prior to the start of the program you signed up for, you will receive an email with your player’s team assignment – team name, team color, and roster.
Assuming the program location and day of the week you are interested in is not full, we can usually get players added after a season has begun. If the season you want to play in has started, then please contact our office to learn more or get signed up.
We do our best to accommodate as many children as we can, but at some point we have to close program locations to ensure that those who are registered have a great experience. Please give our office a call to be placed onto a wait list – sometimes individuals back out which allows us to accept additional players.
We strive to provide great customer service driven by friendly smiles and a fun atmosphere.
