Winter I SKILLS Outdoor Soccer Training: U8 – U18 (Nov & Dec)

[dt_gap height=”20″]
[dt_gap]

Winter I SKILLS training is a series of training sessions run throughout the off-season by Select Skyline Trainers. Our goal is to develop the total player by focusing on the individual player’s technical skill, while incorporating the tactical, psychological, and physical aspects of the game. It is vital for every player to have confidence on the ball, Winter II SKILLS will develop your players confidence through small-sided technical activities.

The program is individual-based, it is not team-based. Players are divided into groups of 10-12 players to maintain a positive coach-to-player ratio. Groups are determined by age and further into ability as the season progresses to enhance the learning process. This may mean your player is in a different group than their friend(s). We strive to maintain group placement by session 2.

FAQ

[dt_gap height=”20″]
  • Can my child participate in more than one program?
    • Yes! All of our program dates and times are designed to not interfere with other programs. Players are encouraged to participate in more than one program.
  • Is my child required to play in the winter months?
    • Skyline’s philosophy is that winter programs are optional, but beneficial. Your child is not required to participate in winter months, but as with any activity, going months with out playing is not beneficial to development.
  • What program best suits my child?
    • This ultimately depends on your schedule and type of training. Winter I and II SKILLS is excellent for players looking to get consistent training throughout the winter. Winter Futsal League is excellent for players looking for team based activities that will help with speed of play and quick decision making.
  • Who is responsible for each program?
    • Skyline staff members run each program, with specific directors having responsibility for each program.
      • Winter I & II SKILLS – Finn Ruehrdanz, Director of Coaching
      • Winter Futsal League – Liam Murphy, Communications Director/Staff Coach
  • What are the differences between each program?
    • Each program offers a unique approach.
      • Winter I SKILLS/Winter II SKILLS – This program is more individual based and progressive throughout the winter time. This will follow a similar model as Skyline’s Summer SKILLS program that is focused on technical development.
      • Skyline Winter Futsal League – This program is an excellent opportunity for teams and friends to have a team environment where they can excel within a league structure.
  • Can non-Skyline players attend these programs?
    • Absolutely! Winter programming is open to any and all players looking to get better and develop their soccer skills
