However, there is a potential for games to be as far away as Vail, Grand Junction, Pueblo as an example. Team’s commitment requires you to travel to ALL away games.

League Placement

Each competitive team is placed in the Colorado Soccer Association league divisions according to their roster level and ability. The Premier level divisions require approvals from the state association for placement and movement. The Advanced League divisions are recommended by club primarily and promotion and relegation standards set by the state association.

Teamwork makes the Dream Work!

  • Encourage players to be good leaders and upstanding citizens.  Let’s strive to be fierce competitors AND good sports!
  • Please talk to your players about being a good teammate; respecting themselves, each other, opponents, referees and coaches.
  • Be accountable. If you make a mistake, own it. Give kind, but constructive criticism and accept the same.
  • Control what you can control. Strive to be the best YOU can be!

Teams playing the Front Range and Advance league must comply with CSA roster limitations, age restrictions and player verification rules.  Players and team MUST travel to ALL away games regardless of distance.

At the Competitive level, playing time is not equal but earned. Playing time is at the coaches’ discretion and takes into consideration absenteeism, tardiness, or general behavior issues in addition to skill of the player, quality of opponent, and competition.

Soccer is an incredible teacher of life lessons. Team sports develop kids both physically and mentally. They will learn how to win, and lose. It nurtures leadership, cooperation, sportsmanship, perseverance, problem solving and prepares them for the world!

Parents are encouraged to support their player and team in a fashion that breeds a positive and respectful learning environment.

Please let the Coaches teach/instruct the game to players in games and at practice.

To best ensure a positive learning environment, parents should refrain from directional coaching on the sidelines while applauding positive plays and encouraging effort.

After all, parents are the best role models for our players: please respect our players, coaches, opponents, and referees.

Remember: “Let the players play, let the coaches coach, and let the referees ref!”

After registration is completed, our Skyline Administrators will send uniform order details by email. Our uniforms are ordered through Soccer.com. Like many clubs, we purchase new uniforms on a 2 year cycle under contract of our uniform manufacturer.

Skyline is an Adidas club and requires all players to purchase and wear the approved Adidas uniform. Skyline runs on a two year uniform cycle. We are presently in the fall 2023 to spring 2025 cycle. The next two year cycle will begin in fall 2025.

The cost of the new full kit is about $300-$320  (based on youth or adult sizes. Adult sizes include womens fit). Sweat suits and bags are an optional purchase.

For more details and to order your uniform, please visit our Uniforms page.

How are Teams Formed?  Teams are formed through the tryout process. At tryouts, players will be evaluated in four key areas: technical ability, tactical intelligence, physical attributes, and psychological elements. Once tryouts are complete, Skyline coaches contact each player within 72 hours to notify them of their result. Players who receive an invitation to play on a Competitive team have 24 hours to accept/decline their invitation.

My Player is Unable to Attend Tryouts, Now What? For players who are unable to make tryouts but are interested in playing in the Competitive program, please do the following: Register online for tryouts as though your player was able to attend, and contact the Director of Coaching, stephen@skylinesoccer.org for 13U and up, to be certain that your player does not get marked as a “no show” at tryouts.

My Player Missed Tryouts, Now What? Players looking to join Competitive, but missed tryouts need to contact their Director of Coaching to see what options are available.

What Happens if My Player is Not Placed on a Team?  If your player is not extended an invitation to player Competitive soccer, your player will have a home in the Academy or Recreational program. Skyline works diligently with these players to ensure they find a home to continue playing soccer.

Can My Player Play Up? At Skyline, we do have a few players who ‘play up.’ but these players are the exception. All players who play up at the Competitive level will need approval from their Director of Coaching. When determining whether a player is ready to play up, the player must be ready soccer-wise, physically, and socially.

How Do I Know Who Will be Coaching Each Team? Most coaching assignments will be confirmed and announced in early May. For any teams who do not have a confirmed coach, the Director of Coaching will be in charge of the team until a coach is confirmed. While Skyline makes every effort to avoid in-season coaching changes, there are circumstances where a coaching change will be made.

When are Competitive Payments Due? Once a player verbally accepts their position with the coach, they musty register online within 24 hours for the appropriate team. The fees will appear on that player’s account and a minimum non-refundable deposit of $250 is due. Families are welcome to pay the full amount at that time if they wish. Players who do not pay the full amount must select our online payment plan. Payment amounts required on each payment plan date is dependent on the player’s team and age group.

How Much Travel is Involved? Competitive teams compete on a state level within the Advanced Leagues run by Colorado Soccer Association. Most games will be in the Denver metro area; however, there is a potential for games to be as far away as Steamboat, Vail, Grand Junction, and Pueblo. Typically, each Competitive team will have at least one game per season where travel time is greater than two hours each way.

Do Teams Play in Tournaments? While it is not required by Skyline, most Competitive teams participate in at least one or more tournaments per season (one in the fall, one in the spring). Tournaments are determined on a team basis with approval from their Director of Coaching. Tournament fees, additional coach fees, and travel expenses are not included in the price of Competitive registration and are collected by the team administrator/ team manager. Travel may be required to participate in a tournament.

Can My Player Guest Play with Other Teams? Yes! Players are encouraged to play with other Skyline teams. Prior to guest playing for another Skyline team, players must get approval from their regular team coach and program director. Any player wishing to guest player with a team outside of Skyline must get approval from their team coach and their Director of Coaching.

What do Teams do During the Summer? Skyline does not require that Competitive teams or players participate in programming during the summer months; however, players are encouraged to participate in individual training programs such as the Advanced Summer Camps. Also, Competitive teams may choose, on a team basis, to participate in summer leagues and/or tournaments. Any additional programs, leagues, or tournaments are not covered in the Competitive registration fees.

What do Teams do During the Winter?  Skyline does not require that Competitive teams or players participate in programming during the winter months (December and January); however, players are encouraged to participate in individual training programs such as Winter Training. Blue and White teams receive additional Winter Training at the Skyline Indoor Facility. Also, Competitive teams may choose, to participate in winter leagues and/or tournaments. Any additional leagues, or tournaments are not covered in the Competitive registration fees.

What if my Team cannot make a game?

When playing in CSA leagues, teams are required to travel to all home and away games.  Teams typically have 4 home and 4 away games.  By signing the registration waiver, you agree to traveling to away games regardless of the distance.

Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) fines clubs $500 for forfeits, and those fees will be paid by the members of the team that is forfeiting the game. Skyline will do its best to get guest players for teams who are short players or will help reschedule games where teams don't have enough players. However, Skyline will not approve forfeits and therefore the fees will be paid by the team members.

We ask that Coaches, Parents and Players fulfill their commitment and support everyone's soccer experience by participating in all home and away games.
